Well, it's finally happened. The Netflix characters are finally back in the MCU. The streaming service canceled all the Marvel shows back in 2018 and 2019. But, reportedly, a clause in the contract said Marvel couldn't use the characters for two years after the Netflix shows were canceled. It's been exactly two years today that the last Marvel Netflix show Punisher which was canceled on February 18, 2019. So now Marvel can start developing plans for the characters. Now that Phase 4 is officially underway. Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told The Hollywood Reporter that "Everything is on the board." He added "That's one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is the inspiration for the future. The Shang-Chi movie is shaping up to be the biggest movie of 2012. The movie already has a top-notch cast with Simu Liu as Shang-Chi and Tony Chiu-Wai Leung as The Mandarin. Akwafina ( Crazy, Rich, Asians ) is in Australia in pre-production on the film. There are rumors that she's playing The Mandarin's daughter Fah Lo Suee. Now a new rumor is circling that another popular Asian actress is going the cast. A rumor is making the rounds that Marvel is working to get Michelle Yeoh to join the cast in an unnamed role. Yeoh previously had a cameo role in Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol II as Aleta Ogord / Starhawk. Starhawk is a superheroine with the power to create solid light objects. Marvel Movie Rights Graphic Updated to Version 8 (9/27/2019)

Update: Marvel and Sony reached an agreement to bring Spider-Man back for one more movie and a cameo in the MCU. Back in the 1990s Marvel, facing bankruptcy, sold off the live-action licensing rights to Marvel characters. In 1996 Marvel created Marvel Studios. In 2014, I created a simple graphic to show the live-action movie rights that belonged to Marvel Studios and other studios like Sony. Visual Guide to Marvel Live-Action Character Rights v.8 (2250x2109) Since then there's been an overwhelming level of support for the chart. I've been humbled that so many so much value in the simple graphic I made. There have been many mistakes pointed out and a fair amount of constructive criticism (yes technically Marvel still owns the "rights" to the characters).
