Doomsday Clock is a 12-issue limited series that picks up after the events of Watchmen . Watchmen was a comic series by writer Alan Moore , artist Dave Gibbons , and colorist John Higgins published by DC Comics in 1986 and 1987. It tells the story of a world of flawed superheroes and the appearance of an all-powerful hero Dr. Jonathan 'Jon' Osterman nicknamed "Doctor Manhattan". Although the character is very different from Superman it was obviously intended as a pastiche
